Accomplishments During Sheriff Galloway's 1st Term
- Used personnel more efficiently (12 hour shifts rather than 8 hour shifts) which
resulted in better coverage throughout the county and improved response
time for to calls for service.
- Purchased additional narcotic and track trained K-9s for department.  This puts
(4) K-9s on force with one per shift.
- Initiated Triple E patrols (Extra Effort Enforcement Patrols) which targets areas
victimized by property crimes.  This has resulted in a 26% reduction in
burglaries.
- Reintroduced the D.A.R.E. Program and increased the number of D.A.R.E.
officers for improved drug education in schools.
- Improved Neighborhood Crime Watch programs and initiated child ID programs
throughout the county.
- Initiated security patrols which target business and commercial districts.
- Increased the size of Reserve Division and expanded responsibilities of the
reserves (went from 6 to 15 officers).
- Improved communication within the department by purchasing MDTs for all
cruisers and 800 MHZ radios for all officers.
- Lifted mileage restrictions on deputies allowing more visibility of the department
throughout the county.

- Re-instituted college Intern program within the department.
- Improved and increased training in all areas of the department
- Increased nursing staff and hours within the jail.
- Put inmates working in the community cleaning/mowing the 4H Fairgrounds,
county roadways and assisting other governmental entities in order to save
the county money.
- Improved security at the courthouse and governmental center
- Wrote job descriptions for all positions within the jail and Sheriff's department.
- Establish a new Policy/Rules/Regulations committee to update and keep current
Sheriff's department guidelines.
- Created an organizational structure for the department.
- Created Firearms Review Board, Accident Review Board and Training Review
Board to deal with these issues in an objective manner.
- Expanded the property/evidence room to handle the current case load.
- Improved working relations with all other law enforcement agencies in Hendricks
County and surrounding areas.
- Have insured that the ERT team is equipped and well trained to handle any
emergency event.
- Have purchased updated crime fighting technology/equipment for detectives and
other staff in order to continue competency and proficiency.
- Reward and recognize all employees for excellent job performance.
- Have a positive working relationship with all other county officials.
- Worked with County Council in order to get a pay matrix approved and a large
pay increase for deputies effective January 2008.
- Stopped the continuous turnover in the Uniform Division and Jail Division and
improved overall morale within all areas of the department.
- Moved monthly Merit Board meeting to the County Government Center and
made them more accessible to the public.
